America was designed as the most wonderful political experiment in human history. America became the greatest nation in the world. Based on the concepts of individual freedoms and personal responsibility, these united States of America grew to be the envy of the world. No other nation grew as fast as America did, became as strong as America did, offered as much leadership to the world as America did, and accomplished all this in as short a period of time as America has.

Somewhere along the way, however, America changed. The federal government used to be Protector; now it is Provider. Where America used to have a System of Justice, it now has a System of Laws and Procedures. What once was the Land of Opportunity has become the Land of Guaranteed Handouts. America used to be the Land of the Free, but now we see many freedoms restricted for the sake of "the greater good." What was created as a Constitutional Republic has become a representative democracy. America has evolved into something the Founding Fathers tried to avoid, and no one seems to have noticed. America has been taken over by the perpetual politician and benign bureaucrat, and no one had to fire the first shot.

Where once America was a nation "of the people, by the people, and for the people," now it is a nation ruled by politicians and staffers, most of whom seem to be more concerned about their longevity than their responsibilities. The benefits after public service have become the motivation for public service. We used to elect our representatives for their integrity. Now the President can lie to the nation about affair after affair, and his friends try to convince us that personal integrity is unrelated to the job of the President.

A recent CNN poll showed that about 75% of Americans either: 1) believe our country is headed in the wrong direction, or 2) fear that our government will do something against him/her wrongfully. This is a sad state of affairs when three-fourths of Americans believe the federal government is simply out of control and unaccountable to We The People.

What is wrong with this picture?

FreedomSite is dedicated to America as it was intended to be. Its creators and contributors are totally committed to that Constitutional Republic formed more than two hundred years ago. FreedomSite is dedicated to the men and women who take seriously our national heritage and the sacrifice that hundreds of thousands have made over the years to keep this nation great. FreedomSite is dedicated to the dream the Founding Fathers started, and which this country emulated until the early 1900s.

FreedomSite is committed to re-establishing the Constitutional Republic we once were. FreedomSite, however, is not committed to the overthrow of the present government. There are many web sites available that advocate rebellion and violence; this is not one of them.

FreedomSite strives to be a resource center, a library, and a meeting place for those who are committed to the peaceful re-establishment of our national heritage. But the pursuit of the "peaceful re-establishment of our national heritage" does not mean we will be quiet and compliant. FreedomSite intends to be a force in returning America back to its roots. We intend to be a thorn in our federal government's side. We intend to make sure that our peaceful intentions provide the federal government no peace.
